The past week was an eventful one for SynergenOG. We recently carried out a 2-day workshop for an Oil & Gas company, based in Kazakhstan. The training is an introductory course to Bowtie and BowTieXP Software for Karachaganak Petroleum Operating (KPO) BV, an Oil & Gas company working on the Karachaganak Field Development.
A bowtie diagram allows its users to visualise risks in one image. The diagram creates a clear differentiation between the proactive and reactive side of risk management within a bow tie shaped image. BowTieXP is a risk management software based on the bowtie method which enables users to create bowtie diagrams to assess risks. The software is unique in its ability to visualise complex risks in a simple manner, yet has room for detailed improvement plans.
The workshop was conducted via Microsoft Teams with minimal to no disruptions, to carry out active interaction and promote engagement between the trainers and participants. Throughout the training, we actively provided exercises to gauge the understanding of each participant on the concepts of Bowtie and how to create a great Bowtie outline that is tailored to an organisation’s ideals. In addition to that, hands-on exercises were provided in order to familiarise the participants with the BowTieXP Software features. The official Certified Partner BowTieXP practitioners were Puvan Balasubramaniam, Thong Wee Jun and Thomas Thum. Our trained practitioners provided the training that was conducted between Malaysia and Kazakhstan. The three hour time difference posed no hindrance to the team as the training was successfully conducted between SynergenOG’s training officers and the three participants.
At the end of the training course, SynergenOG conducted an assessment of the participants’ skills and knowledge on the software. We are delighted with the outcome of the event which was filled with engaging and meaningful discussion. We hope to see more participants who are just as eager as our most recent clients!
Thank you, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating (KPO) BV, for your full attention and participation! We’d also like to thank CGE Risk, the developer of the BowTieXP software for their support toward making this event a success.
