Total and its partners which include China’s CNOOC has discovered a new gas source off the coast of Britain at the North Sea Glengorm prospect. It had recoverable resources which are estimated at 250 million barrels of oil equivalent (boe). According to Total, with further drilling and testing to be carried out, this could assess the resources and productivity of the reservoir.
“Glengorm is another great success for Total in the North Sea, with results at the top end of expectations and a high condensate yield in addition to the gas,” said Kevin McLachlan, Total’s Senior Vice President for Exploration, in a statement.
The company said, as the discovered area in Glengorm is close to Total’s infrastructures and tie-back possibilities such as the Elgin-Franklin platform and the Culzean project, the production is scheduled to start this year.
