PROCESS SAFETY MANAGEMENT (PSM)

This course is tailored to those within the field of petrochemicals, oil and gas field development, mining, fertilisers, etc. We give participants an overview of process safety, risks posed by process hazards and available techniques for managing risks.

The SynergenOG Process Safety Management course examines 5 critical aspects:

  • Introduction to Process Safety
  • Process Safety Culture
  • Process Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment
  • Managing Process Safety Risks
  • Review and Improvement

QUANTITATIVE RISK ASSESSMENT (QRA)

This course is customised for individuals who want to gain a thorough understanding of the different aspects of Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) that allows the participant to assess and evaluate the risks arising from all foreseeable Major Accident Hazard (MAH) identified within a facility.

The SynergenOG Quantitative Risk Assessment course examines 5 critical aspects:

  • Hazard Identification (HAZID)
  • Fire and Explosion Assessment (Consequence Modelling & Frequency Assessment)
  • Non-Hydrocarbon Hazard Analysis (NHHA)
  • Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA)
  • Risk Reduction through ALARP Principle

BASIC RISK ASSESSMENT

Risk Assessment is a practical and systematic methodology employed globally, with a specialisation in the energy industry. Participants will be provided with the knowledge to understand and implement effective Basic Risk Assessment within the workplace. Key concepts will be illustrated in this 1-day class and tutorial.

We will address several important issues including:

  • What are the hazards applicable for your facility?
  • How can we categorise our hazards?
  • How can we prevent the hazards from happening?
  • How effective are our risk control barriers?

BARRIER MANAGEMENT COURSE

The Barrier Management technique has been successfully applied throughout numerous industries worldwide such as oil & gas, mining, aviation, healthcare, chemical processing, maritime, rail transport and business and IT services. Practical exercises will be performed throughout the course based on real-life examples by expert software practitioners.

HAZID

The first step in the risk assessment process is Hazard Identification. It functions as a means to identify and recommend suitable preventative, mitigation and control measures for hazards present within a plant. The HAZID review will also evaluate the adequacy of available safeguards and propose additional ones where deficiencies are identified.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the importance of clearly defined hazards
  • Learn common approaches employed to carry out HAZard IDentification (HAZID)
  • Recognise their roles as individuals within the HAZID process in order to maximise effectiveness
  • Learn the means to categorise hazards, especially identification of Major Accident Hazard (MAH)
  • Understand key outcomes from HAZID studies

HAZOP

The efficacy of the HAZOP approach is highly dependent upon the expertise of the personnel involved. This course gives participants an overview of the HAZOP process and methodology, key roles expected of the participants as well as common reporting methods. Participants will be guided by experienced instructors.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the benefits of conducting HAZOP and relevant situations
  • Familiarise themselves with the archetypal methodologies employed during HAZOP
  • Recognise their roles as individuals within the HAZOP process in order to maximise effectiveness
  • Conduct reports on HAZOP studies
  • SynergenOG team provided an excellent resource, whose contribution to the project was valuable. I would definitely request for SynergenOG in future projects.

  • I would like the use the opportunity to thank you and your colleagues for your excellent contributions to the project this year. Your work and reports have been very useful both as support for our decision making in the project and also to ensure that we meet BWO high level standard when it comes to safety. Based on the good experience we have with you we hope we can do some future work together when any potential projects are more matured.

  • We had a very good working relationship with SynergenOG over the course of the project and they have shown great endeavour and flexibility in meeting the requirements of the workscope. Special mention to Amelia who has been a very enthusiastic and diligent member of our team, and always resolved any technical issues very competently.

    Jonathan Way

  • We’ve been working together now for 2 years and in that time we have developed a good and cooperative way of working together. This has been beneficial for both parties and very pleasing.

  • Overall, we are satisfied with the technical support provided by SynergenOG for HAZID facilitation. Although our first choice facilitator was unavailable for HAZID, the replacement facilitator carried out and completed the HAZID satisfactorily. The Scribe worked well with the facilitator and the most of the team and this allowed for smooth progress and timely completion of HAZID.

  • HAZOP was held in Bangkok and facilitated by Synergen team. It went very well and managed to identify many areas for improvement. Thanks for Synergen Team including the scribe who has summarised all discussion in detail and suggest all point which we missed. I really appreciate effort to connect all the discussion process into a good summary outcome. Again, thank you so much for all help. I greatly appreciate the assistance provided us to us.
